//abandoned streetcar tracks in Toronto's west end. (Olympus Trip 35, Ilford Delta Pro film)

It's pretty common to see old streetcar tracks emerging from asphalt they've been buried under (as roads in the city age) but these are probably the oldest instance I've ever come across. They're not actually on the road, but grow out of a sidewalk and into a publicly abandoned (as I'd call it) property at Lansdowne & Bloor.

The community has been urging someone to turn this into public park space for years now, but still it remains a huge field of gravel, barbed wire and, somewhere far below these tracks, contaminated soil. Past photos of this space: 2007(with park space activists' work on the fence) and even a few days ago.

As for this roll of film... Like I mentioned yesterday, I'm totally infatuated with this camera and had a tough time choosing what to post. If you'd like to see more, I've added most of the others to Flickr.
