//a museum of black velvet paintings in Portland, OR.
One of my absolute favourite stops during this month's trip to Portland, was a visit to the Velveteria. The small, independently-run, gallery is chock full of black velvet paintings. The walls were covered from floor to ceiling in works by well-known velvet artists of the past alongside other pieces by amateurs and enthusiasts. In the back there is a room of nudes (which is stunning) and even a trippy black-light room where glowing neon paintings appear to jump right off the walls. Definitely worth a stop next time you're in the area... if for the wall of retro-kitsch unicorns alone.
